What will my child learn in 3rd grade?!?!?
In order to help you answer this question, the National Parent Teacher Association has developed a reference guide to help parents understand what it expected of 3rd graders! I have attached the guide for your convenience! In addition, I am attaching my 3rd grade curriculum calendar that I will be using throughout the year to help guide my unit planning and of course my daily lesson plans! (Please note that this is MY curriculum calendar only and other 3rd grade teachers may follow a different scope and sequence.) If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!!!
Wanted: Classroom VOLUNTEERSCURRENTLY, NO CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS ARE ALLOWED! Hopefully, this will change soon!
Please click on the link below to access a list of ways that you can volunteer this year! If there is one particular job or event that you would like to sign up for, please let me know and I will give you more specifics!!! *Please fill out a Clearance Form in the office for any and all volunteer opportunities - again this is a district policy and it's for our kids' safety! |
Homework PolicyIt is my belief as an educator and as a mom that homework in 3rd grade be as minimal as possible. Students at this age should still be getting approximately 10 hours of sleep each night and AT LEAST one hour of physical activity a day. It is my hope that evenings are spent eating meals as a family, reading interesting books or magazines (or being read to!), and playing with friends or siblings. Play is still a very important part of a child's day.
Students will receive one math page each night Monday - Thursday. In addition, students should complete at least 60 minutes of reading a week - more if possible! The link below has a copy of the Reading Log so that you can access it if your child forgets theirs for the week! |
School SuppliesHere is a link to the school supplies that each student will need for the beginning of the year! Please let me know if purchasing any of these supplies is a hardship or if they are unavailable and I am happy to help find resources to provide them! During the year, we are always in need of tissues and pencils! Please feel free to send those in any time :)

Ideas for Starting a Conversation with your Child
It is often difficult to know what to say to your child to learn about their day or hear about their ideas! Too often, we may say things that inadvertently close down a conversation instead of open one up! If you would like a list of suggestions of how to start a conversation with your child, please click on the "Conversation Starters" link below! Good luck!!
